Stop Motion Animation - Gr. 4-8 Stop motion animation is a fun, hands-on way to make amazing films, using a variety of objects, such as clay, LEGO mini-figures and other everyday materials. Aspiring young film makers discover the art & science of film and animation as they learn the filming technique in which objects are photographed in a series of slightly different positions so that the objects seem to move. Campers make armature-clay based characters or figures or bring their own mini props from home and learn how stop motion and special effects were used in early films and silent movies. Using ZU3D software and webcams, students create their own video full of action and suspense, learn storyboard and set design techniques, character development, film angles, lighting, special effects, and methods to add titles and rolling credits! A flash drive for a camper's video creations is included to take home.
