2 Weeks | Progressive Skill-Building The Trailblazers Wilderness Skills Intensive is a hands-on, immersive experience designed for older campers who are ready to challenge themselves, build independence, and deepen their outdoor competence. This two-week program blends practical survival skills, teamwork, and leadership with real-world application through overnight and backpacking experiences. Each week may be taken independently, but campers who participate in both weeks experience a powerful progression—from foundational survival skills to a multi-day backpacking expedition where those skills are put to the test. Week 1: Wilderness Survival Foundations During Week 1, campers develop the core skills needed to stay safe, prepared, and confident in the outdoors. Through hands-on learning and guided challenges, Trailblazers practice outdoor preparedness, navigation, shelter-building, fire safety, and responsible tool use. Campers learn how to pack smart, problem-solve when things don’t go as planned, and work together as a team. The week culminates in a one-night campout, where campers build and (optionally) sleep in survival-style shelters they construct themselves—supported by staff and grounded in safety. This week emphasizes adaptability, cooperation, and resilience while giving campers their first taste of self-sufficiency in the wild.
