2 Weeks | Progressive Skill-Building The Trailblazers Wilderness Skills Intensive is a hands-on, immersive experience designed for older campers who are ready to challenge themselves, build independence, and deepen their outdoor competence. This two-week program blends practical survival skills, teamwork, and leadership with real-world application through overnight and backpacking experiences. Each week may be taken independently, but campers who participate in both weeks experience a powerful progression—from foundational survival skills to a multi-day backpacking expedition where those skills are put to the test. Week 2: Backpacking Expedition Week 2 challenges campers to apply their survival skills in a real-world setting during a three-day, two-night backpacking expedition. Campers prepare by learning backpacking fundamentals, including gear selection, packing and weight distribution, meal planning, navigation, campsite setup, and Leave No Trace principles. On the trail, Trailblazers rotate through leadership roles—helping navigate, set up camp, prepare meals, manage water, and support group decision-making. With staff guidance, campers practice independence, teamwork, and responsibility while experiencing the rhythm of life on the trail. This week builds confidence, leadership, and trust—both in oneself and in the group.
