Description
Mariachi Classes for Youth Residents Only (Ages 8–14)
Explore the rich tradition of Mariachi music in this free program designed for local youth! Led by professional musician Juan Mendoza and instructor Jorge Cardenas, students will learn technique, ensemble performance, and foundational music skills using the Viva el Mariachi instructional series. All participants will register under one class. After the first day, students will be evaluated and placed into either the Beginner/Intermediate or Advanced group based on skill level.

All instruments and instructional materials will be provided. Instruments are loaned for the duration of the course (waiver required). This program aims to form a youth Mariachi group to represent the City of Santa Fe Springs at future events. Space is limited. This program welcomes children of all abilities; however, it is not specifically tailored for participants with special needs, and instructors are not certified in special education. Children who are able to function independently and participate in group music instruction are welcome. Participants who require additional support must have a certified aide with them at all times.
