Our Beginner Songwriting Camp is the perfect starting point for aspiring songwriters who want to try their hand at writing original music, or students who may benefit from a refresher before joining our Intermediate Songwriting Camp. No prior experience is required — just curiosity, creativity, and a love of music. Throughout the week, students will explore the fundamentals of songwriting from the ground up. They’ll learn the building blocks of a great song, including basic song structure (verse, chorus, bridge), melody creation, rhythm, and simple lyric writing techniques. Using familiar songs as examples, students will discover how their favorite tracks are put together and begin to recognize patterns that make songs catchy and memorable. As the camp progresses, students will apply each new concept through hands-on activities and experiment with crafting their own melodies, shaping lyrics around a theme, and organizing their ideas into a clear, cohesive structure. By the end of the week, each student will have structured and developed an original song to take home, accompanied by the foundational tools and confidence to continue their songwriting journey.
