About This Activity

Students in our Intermediate Songwriting Camp will take their craft to the next level by exploring more advanced songwriting tips, tools, and creative techniques. From lyrical storytelling and melodic development to chord progressions, and song structure, students will examine how these elements come together in today’s modern chart-toppers. Through guided listening sessions and in-class analysis, they’ll break down what makes contemporary hits so memorable and learn how to apply those same strategies in their own original music. Over the course of the two-week camp, students will complete a series of focused songwriting assignments designed to strengthen specific skills, such as crafting compelling hooks, refining verses, and sharpening lyrical imagery. Each assignment builds toward a final project: a fully developed original song. Throughout the process, students will actively apply what they learn in class while receiving personalized feedback and constructive critiques from instructors and peers. By the end of camp, participants will walk away with stronger songwriting skills and a polished piece they’re proud to perform.
