About This Activity

Description

Schaumburg Park District is proud to partner with Missoula Children's Theatre, an internationally renowned touring children's theatre company! Campers will audition and be cast on Monday morning, spend the week learning songs, dances, and much more in rehearsals, and will perform a fully realized musical with sets, lights, and costumes on Friday evening at 6:00pm. When they're not in rehearsals, campers will spend time with their peers working on various crafts, playing games, and making lifelong memories!

This fun-packed camp runs Monday through Friday from 9am-3:30pm. On Friday, campers will stay with us after camp to get ready for the 6:00 performance, and will be dismissed around 7:30pm. Those wishing to participate must be able to attend the performance. Participants must have completed Kindergarten to be eligible for this camp. The performance is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased at parkfun.com. tickets will also be sold at the door pending availability.Campers will need to pack a lunch and a water bottle for each day and wear closed-toed shoes. Additional information will be emailed to campers the week before camp begins.MCT's The Princess and the Pea Synopsis: Envision a kingdom of snow where the residents are Winter Wind Workers, Blizzard Bringers, Icicle Sharpeners and Snow Smoothers, ruled by the Storm King and the Snow Queen. Add to that a Prince looking for a proper Princess to share the throne. Now imagine the Princess and her friend the Pea living in a kingdom of green rolling hills and running rivers with her subjects, The Flower Gardeners, River Runners, Green Shoot Growers and Tree Barkers. Her parents, King Size and Queen Size, do all they can to keep things running smoothly. Who knows, maybe the dancing Dust Bunnies can help? Although the two kingdoms think they have nothing in common (except maybe a pesky Jack Frost that freezes anything and everything), the peace-loving Leprechauns prove otherwise. Throw in some Phony Princesses and you have a real fiasco! This ain’t your grandma’s PRINCESS AND THE PEA. We think you will enjoy its twists and turns.
This camp is open to kids post-Kindergarten through grade 12. All participants must be able to attend the performance Friday at 6:30pm *Please note participants in this program are performing in the same show as participants in 55333*
