About This Activity
Taught by local recording artist Porter Ray, explores the original history and intention of positive and socially aware hip-hop, which began in the 1970s in the New York City borough of the Bronx, as a community-building collaboration among Black, Latinx, and Caribbean American . Taking the core components developed by DJs and Hip-hop artists, you will learn lyric composition, freestyle, making “break beats”, recording, performing, and DJ skills. Instructor: Porter Ray
