About This Activity
Writing a quality college essay is an essential part of creating a strong college application. Rising seniors will learn about the expectations of college essays and will engage in the process of crafting an essay. The goal of the workshop is for students to have a solid draft of their essay done by the end of the workshop. This will allow them to fine-tune and tailor the essay towards individual colleges they are applying to in the fall and winter. Students will review examples of well-written personal essays, brainstorm writing topics, draft their own essay, and peer-review essays with classmates. Teachers will provide each student with individualized feedback. Note that the workshop meets as a class three times spaced over four days. Students are expected to work on the essay at home on the day between the second and third classes.
