About This Activity
Connections Ensemble is for students who are proficient on their instruments and ready to improve their musicianship and improvisational skills. This class is very hands-on, so students should be prepared to play their instruments and/or sing during every session. Each class will begin with a group icebreaker activity and include learning easy jazz tunes by ear, focused listening, ear training, exploring rhythmic and creative concepts, and more! Musicians will learn jazz and blues repertoire through call and response and develop melodic and rhythmic vocabulary for improvisation. No previous jazz experience is required.
