About This Activity
Connections is for students who are proficient on their instruments and ready to improve their musicianship and improvisational skills. This class is very hands-on, so students should be prepared to be playing their instruments and/or singing for every session. Every class will start out with a group icebreaker activity and include learning easy jazz tunes by ear, focused listening, ear-training, exploring rhythmic and creative concepts, and more! Musicians will learn jazz and blues repertoire through call and response, and develop melodic and rhythmic vocabulary for improvisation. No previous jazz experience is required.
