Instructor: Dorothy Killmeyer, Sewickley Academy Learning Specialist Have you ever been curious about American Sign Language (ASL)? Being able to use your hands to share thoughts, feelings and words themselves? ASL is growing into a highly influential skill to have throughout both school and post secondary education. All students deserve the chance and opportunity to express themselves, and by learning ASL, we give our students another way to express their wants and needs. In this course, we will explore the basics of American Sign Language, such as the alphabet, numbers, colors, signs we can use in school, while simultaneously learning the fingerspelling system and incorporating our early literacy skills such as letter recognition, sight word recognition, and spelling rules.
