Instructor: Rina Heavner, Sewickley Academy Grade 1 Teacher Welcome to Jumpstart Grade One, a magical summer camp where young learners step into the exciting world of first grade! This camp is designed to gently introduce children to the routines, rhythms, and daily adventures of the classroom. To help your child feel confident and prepared, we've designed the Jumpstart Grade One program. Over the course of the camp, campers will explore the daily schedule through fun, hands-on activities that mirror a first-grade day. Practice classroom routines, including lining up, transitioning between activities, and organizing materials. Engage in early academic exploration, such as reading readiness, math games, writing exercises, and creative projects. Discover the joy of learning with friends, building confidence, independence, and teamwork along the way. Every day is sprinkled with a little magic - through stories, songs, movement, and interactive play - to make learning feel like an adventure. By the end of the camp, campers will feel confident, comfortable, and excited to start their first-grade journey! We encourage campers to bring a nutritious snack and refillable water bottle each day of camp.
