About This Activity
This course is the first level of water rescue training. Course topics include organizational roles and objectives, safety, the drowning problem, water types, reading water and water flows, rescue failures, logistics, hand signals, risk versus benefit, environmental concerns, flood characteristics, response strategies, PPE, and types of water rescue. Students will obtain four separate water rescue awareness certifications: Swift Water, Flood Water, Surface Water, and Watercraft Rescue. This course is IFSAC eligible.
