About This Activity

In Kala's Arts Enrichment Online, students will engage in hands-on art making activities using a range of materials & techniques. This session is designed for students K-5. Fridays, 2:30-3:3:30pm. Arte y Cultura: Folk Art from Latin America Explore art as a creative expression of culture! In this interactive class, students will explore art, design, color, line, pattern, and shapes through folk art from Latin America. Students will learn how these artworks communicate ideas, values, history and culture, and create their own meaningful stories. Students will use a variety of media such as watercolor, color pencils, yarn, and paper to create collages, drawings, and paintings inspired by such works as the molas (Kuna/Panama), huichol yarn paintings (Huichol/Mexico), alebrijes (Mexico), and more! Students will discover their own connections to these intricate, colorful, and symbolic artworks! Spanish speakers/learners & ELL students are encouraged to participate. Tuition includes art supplies. Curbside pickup at Kala or shipped to you for an additional fee which depends on location & lead-time before the session begins. 6 Remaining Session Dates: 11/6, 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11, 12/18 (No class 10/30) Instructor Bio: Etty Alberto is a visual artist and educator from Saint Paul, MN.
