Course Description: In The Art of Drawing, students will learn to see the world through their “Artist Eyes” - breaking down everyday objects, popular cartoon characters, and nature into basic shapes, forms, and layers. We’ll build strong drawing fundamentals by exploring how to sketch with confidence, add detail with purpose, and think visually in ways that help bring ideas to life. Students will stretch their imagination - learning how to transform ordinary objects into characters, stories, and scenes. Along the way, we’ll take inspiration from familiar characters to study how great design is built, then apply those lessons to create something original. By the end of the course, we’ll dive into 1-point and 2-point perspective to help students add depth and dimension to their drawings. This class is designed, to grow both skills and imagination - giving young artists the tools to draw what they see and what they dream up. Instructor: Sean Martin Instructor Bio: My name is Sean Martin, and I’m excited to be teaching “The Art of Drawing” this fall. I have a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design and have spent over 10 years leading creative design teams. Along the way, I’ve also worked as a freelance illustrator, helping bring ideas to life through visual storytelling. I’ve had the opportunity to partner with the City of Reno to design and paint multiple murals around town. I truly enjoy community related projects and giving back through my time and talents. I believe art is an important way to view the world and connect with how others see it too. It can be inspiring, eye-opening, and a great tool for self expression. I’m looking forward to helping students tap into their creativity, build their drawing skills, and most importantly, have fun!
