About This Activity

Description

At the Y, our basketball league helps youth develop fundamental basketball skills while learning teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship. Skills that are taught include passing, shooting, dribbling, post work, and the rules of the game. The focus of this program is to have fun, make new friends, and play basketball in a hybrid recreational-competitive environment.

This league is a 7-week season; 1 practice and 1 game per week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Uniform and end of season award are provided by the Y. Players must participate in 4 games to receive their award.

Program Requirements:

  • Comfortable clothes for running.
  • Closed-toe shoes, no crocs.
  • Basketball; size 7.
  • Bring a water bottle, and please clearly label all items with your child's name.
  • Basketball is played on outside courts.

Spectators should bring a chair for all sports programs.
VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!YMCA sports are based on seven guiding principles: Everyone plays, safety first, fair play, positive competition, sports for all, sports for fun, and family involvement. Our sports are supported by parent volunteers, who are engaged as coaches, referees, and raving fans.
The YMCA uses volunteer coaches to provide leadership to the community through structured athletic activities. In person training sessions will be held before the seasons and online training is also available. YMCA staff guidance is provided throughout the season.
