About This Activity

Description

Getting a child involved in sports at an early age has proven to help them develop social, interpersonal, and athletic skills. That's why our Rookie Leagues is a great opportunity to introduce your child to all the fun sports have to offer.

YMCA Rookie Sports is designed to introduce children to the basics of sports in a fun and inviting environment. The leagues focuses on teaching new skills and fundamentals of the sports while emphasizing on learning, confidence building, socialization and most of all, HAVING FUN! It is a 50/50 developmental style, which is half learning and half play.

Rookie Leagues are not focused on winning or competing.

Program Requirements:

  • Please bring a water bottle labeled with your child's name.
  • Wear athletic and comfortable clothing.
  • T-ball batting helmet is required.
  • Close toed shoes are required. Cleats are optional.

The program will run ONLY on Saturdays.

VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!YMCA sports are based on seven guiding principles: Everyone plays, safety first, fair play, positive competition, sports for all, sports for fun, and family involvement. Our sports are supported by parent volunteers, who are engaged as coaches, referees, and raving fans.
The YMCA uses volunteer coaches to provide leadership to the community through structured athletic activities. In person training sessions will be held before the seaons and online training is also available. YMCA staff guidance is provided throughout the season.
