About This Activity

Description

At the Y, our soccer league helps youth develop fundamental soccer skills while learning teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship. Skills that are taught include passing, shooting, dribbling, foot control, and the rules of the game. The focus of this program is to have fun, make new friends, and play soccer in a hybrid recreational-competitive environment.

This league is a 7-week season; 1 practice and 1 game per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Uniform and end of season award are provided by the Y. Players must participate in 4 games to receive their award.

Program Requirements:
  • Soccer Ball: Size 5
  • Shin Guards must be worn at all times (mandatory)
  • Wear athletic or comfortable clothing for running.
  • Closed-toes shoes. Cleats are optional.
  • Bring a water bottle, and please clearly label all items with your child's name.

Spectators should bring a chair to use for sitting for all YMCA programming of practice and game days.

VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED!YMCA sports are based on seven guiding principles: Everyone plays, safety first, fair play, positive competition, sports for all, sports for fun, and family involvement. Our sports are supported by parent volunteers, who are engaged as coaches, referees, and raving fans.
The YMCA uses volunteer coaches to provide leadership to the community through structured athletic activities. In person training sessions will be held before the seasons and online training is also available. YMCA staff guidance is provided throughout the season.

PARENT COMMUNICATION:All notifications will be done using the Remind App, with a direct invite from the email and phone number provide at registration. If you are not sure which email address and/or phone number is on file, please stop at member services to verify and update your contact information.

SPECIAL REQUESTS:Our priorities are creating a playing environment that allows players to be on balanced and fair teams, placing your child on a team that practices on one of your requested evenings and/times, and helping our parent volunteers have equal access to resources to help players grow in skills and have a fun season.

FRIENDS:We understand that playing sports with friends can make the experience more enjoyable. However, we want each parent to encourage their child to view their team placement with an open mind. If they are lucky and placed on a team with another player that they already know, then that is fantastic. We are not able to accommodate requests. Please help them see this an ch chance and opportunity to meet new players and gain more friendships. Cooperating with new teammates is a great growth of experience, and remind them that they still will see their friends outside of the program.
