About This Activity
Description
Learning to play a musical instrument helps a young person develop confidence and make the connection between effort and accomplishment. The ukulele is a great instrument for a child to learn because it is easy to master, very portable, and encourages the child to sing.In this class, students will learn to play the ukulele and accompany themselves singing some of their favorite songs. By the end of the program students will have learned 15 chords and 15 songs, and will have the tools to learn hundreds of other songs on their own.
The ukulele provides a smooth transition to the guitar if they are so inclined when they are a little older, and their hands are a little bigger and stronger.
The instructor will provide a ukulele for each student to play in class and to take home to practice between classes. Students are welcome to bring their own ukulele if they already have one. Parents are encouraged but not required to attend class with their students.
