About This Activity
Description
This is a tentative program. Registrations will be accepted if it becomes official.
This educational and fun, three-day nature camp will introduce the study of tortoises and freshwater turtles with an emphasis on diversity, ecology, and conservation of Florida species. Facilitated by turtle biologist and environmental educator George L. Heinrich, children will reassemble turtle shells from piles of bones, use radiographs to determine clutch size, dissect gopher tortoise scat to study diet, and meet a Florida pine snake (gopher tortoise burrow associate).
