About This Activity
Level: Intermediate Students will be introduced to basic Optimist racing techniques and the use of hiking straps and tiller extensions. They will be challenged to perfect their sailing skills by examining the effects of wind and weather on upwind sailing. All students will be encouraged to participate in local Green Fleet regattas, which are designed for new racers. During these events, students will be supervised by our instructors and coaches. Green Fleet regattas are offered almost every week so students in this program will have at least one opportunity to race. These are all day events and will require a commitment time from 7:30am to 5:30pm. ** Note – regatta fees are not included and typically range from $25 to $35 per event. Recommended Next Classes: -Hartley Level 1 or 2 -Repeat Opti Green Fleet -Opti Red/White/Blue with coach's recommendation
