Recreational offerings via the Active Youth Coalition – a collaborative group of providers and advocates who will support and expand active engagement resources in south Pierce County to promote the healthy physical, mental, and social benefits of play and physical exercise. The vision of the coalition is a Pierce County in which every child has the opportunity to be active through sports, play and outdoor recreation, regardless of race, gender income, and ability.This is strictly a recreational program. There are no try-outs, league championships, and no win-loss records kept. Everyone plays regardless of ability. The league purpose is to provide an enjoyable, safe, and positive experience while learning respect, sportsmanship and the basics of softball and baseball.
• T-ball: Ages 5-6 (Practices/games at Spanaway Park – entry passes will be provided)• Coach Pitch: Ages 7-8 (Practices/games at Gonyea)• Boys and girls on the same team
RegistrationApril 6th – May 22nd Limited to 130 per league
FeeFREE (These programs are discounted to increase engagement and participation) includes team shirt and 6-7 games
PracticesEach team will have 3 practices before the first game. Practices are scheduled June 15th – June 26th on weeknights (Monday – Thursday).
GamesTeams will play 6 or 7 games, weather permitting. Two games scheduled each week (Monday – Thursday) beginning the week of June 29th through July 23rd. Games will begin after 5:00pm.
EquipmentPierce County Parks will supply balls, bats, hitting tees, helmets, and bases. Players should supply their own glove and shoes (athletics shoes or rubber cleats only, no metal cleats).
CoachesThis is a volunteer coached and officiated league. Parents interested in volunteering should register online. Parents will be contacted directly once they are approved to volunteer. There will be a mandatory coaches meeting on Wednesday, June 10th at Sprinker Recreation Center for approved coaches.
