Recreational offerings via the Active Youth Coalition – a collaborative group of providers and advocates who will support and expand active engagement resources in south Pierce County to promote the healthy physical, mental, and social benefits of play and physical exercise. The vision of the coalition is a Pierce County in which every child has the opportunity to be active through sports, play and outdoor recreation, regardless of race, gender income, and ability.This is strictly a recreational program. There are no try-outs, league championships, and no win-loss records kept. Everyone plays regardless of ability. The league purpose is to provide an enjoyable, safe, and positive experience while learning respect, sportsmanship and the basics of basketball.Players will meet twice a week. The first two weeks of the program will be practice. During the final four weeks, the schedule will shift to include one practice day and one game day each week.
Location: LCC Gym
Registration: June 1st – July 6th
Limit 60 kids
Fee: FREE (These programs are discounted to increase engagement and participation) includes team shirt
Coaches: This is a volunteer coached and officiated league. Parents interested in volunteering should register online. Parents will be contacted directly once they are approved to volunteer. There will be a mandatory coaches meeting on Wednesday, July 15th at Sprinker Recreation Center for approved coaches
