As global populations grow so do our energy needs. Finding innovative ways to produce and conserve energy is a global and intergenerational challenge that begins at the local level. Clean energy, also called renewable energy or green energy, refers to energy created from renewable resources. Clean Energy Week was created to give students an opportunity to explore emerging technologies in the clean-energy sector. Students will learn how clean-energy innovations can be profitable as well as aid in the conservation of vital resources. During this program, students will join teams and compete in the simulated clean energy marketplace. Teams will be faced with ethical scenarios specific to this industry. Students will also have an opportunity to learn from leading clean-energy entrepreneurs as they develop a business plan surrounding their unique clean energy product. The program cumulates with teams presenting their product and plan to potential investors. This five-day Washington Business Week program is designed for students in grades 9-12. Program hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Snacks and lunch will be provided to program participants.
