The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program is a hands-on leadership experience for teens ages 13–17 who want to learn the ropes of working in summer camps while having a blast along the way. CITs support staff by helping run activities, assisting with games and crafts, supporting camper supervision, and being positive role models, all while earning community service hours and building real-world skills like teamwork, communication, and responsibility.
The online application opens March 2, with interviews taking place the week of May 11. Once accepted, CITs will participate in summer camp weeks running June 22–August 21. A $50 program fee is required after confirmation of acceptance. This fee helps cover program costs, including CIT SWAG, supplies, training materials, and three special group events/outings just for CITs throughout the summer.
It’s a summer of leadership, learning, and unforgettable experiences, while making a real impact in Pierce County Parks camps and building skills that last well beyond summer.
