FALL - CODING DEVELOPMENT & GAME DESIGNBad Screen Time OUT.. FUN Learning IN!!
CodeFu Tampa kids spark their creative adventure with the magic of CODING. They will go beyond just passive screen time by making characters move on screen. Students build with purpose and learn back-end programming skills. No coding experience is required (and experienced coders get bonus challenges).
3rd-5th: Students will code and create a series of gaming projects throughout the club season — growing skills in game design + programming fundamentals -planning game mechanics and coding systems like real developers.
K-2nd: Each week students will complete mini-programming challenges developing the real building blocks of coding literacy in a gamified environment.
Our focus is problem solving, critical thinking, and programming logic so students gain the confidence to CODE, CREATE & INNOVATE—building a future-ready universal SKILL SET in a fun-filled environment!
WHAT THEY’LL DO• Weekly build challenges: story logic, puzzle mechanics, and mini‐program goals• Game design workflow: plan → build → test → debug → improve• Block-coding practice: plan → assemble → test → debug each project •• Challenge extensions for fast finishers: timed goals, extra rules, or level variants
PROGRAMMING FOUNDATIONS THEY MASTER• Core concepts: algorithms, sequencing, events, loops, conditionals, operators, parallel scripts, decomposition, variables*• Game logic + systems thinking: collision rules, timers, state changes, cause/effect, and scoring systems*• Real developer habits: planning, testing, debugging, iteration, persistence, and finishing a working project
WHY FAMILIES LOVE IT• Structured weekly challenges keep students engaged and leveling up• Clear learning objectives + visible progress through missions & finished projects*• Builds real problem-solving, logic, and creative confidence• A strong foundation for future coding pathways
