About This Activity
Description
Tigard Safety Town is a comprehensive safety program for children ages 5-6. The curriculum includes topics like fire safety, poison control, bicycle safety and more. Plus, it's LOTS of fun! This community-based volunteer program partners with organizations like the Tigard Police Department, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, and more to provide meaningful safety instruction in a fun environment. The purpose of our program is to empower children to make safe choices at home, in school and in their community.Tigard Safety Town is a Tigard tradition! Started in 1972, the half day class is delivered by local educators with support from middle school helpers (many of whom attended Safety Town). The instructors use live speakers, films, art projects, music and hands-on activities such as riding Kett Cars through our own custom crafted Safety Town!
