This comprehensive course examines the Constitution, political parties and the three branches of government. Course content will extend beyond the textbook in an effort for students to gain an overall knowledge of the current government, allowing them to make informed decisions as active citizens in society. This class will meet at NDA from 12:00 -3:00 pm Monday - Friday, June 3rd - 21st. *STUDENTS MAY ACCRUE NO MORE THAN TWO (2) ABSENCES IN ORDER TO RECEIVE .5 CREDIT FOR THIS COURSE.* CREDIT IS GUARANTEED FOR NDA STUDENTS ONLY. STUDENTS FROM OTHER SCHOOLS SHOULD CHECK TO VERIFY THAT THE CREDIT WILL BE ACCEPTED PRIOR TO REGISTRATION. GRADE AND CREDIT VERIFICATION WILL BE PROVIDED BY THE INSTRUCTOR AT THE END OF THE COURSE. (MORE BELOW) ***In order to complete this course, students must complete eight (8) hours of participation in the political process. This may include, but is not limited to : campaigning for a candidate or issue, attending a local city council, township trustee or school board meeting. Students may also shadow an elected official with teacher approval. The project requires students to obtain the proper signatures from officials in charge of volunteers.
