About This Activity
Are you ready to code your way through twists, turns, and tricky challenges? In this exciting 8-week program, young creators will use SCRATCH, the beginner-friendly coding platform, to design and build their very own maze games, complete with secret paths, moving walls, and hidden surprises! Each week, students meet for 90 minutes of interactive learning, discovering how to bring their imagination to life through game design. What Students Will Learn: 🧠Coding Fundamentals: - Sequencing: Plan the perfect path through the maze - Loops: Create repeating patterns and moving obstacles - Conditionals: Add smart reactions to player actions ("if you touch the wall, try again!") - Events: Make characters move with keyboard controls - Variables: Track player progress, timers, and scoring - Debugging: Find and fix "bugs" to make games run perfectly 🎨 Game Design Skills: - Designing creative and challenging mazes - Programming characters to move through the maze - Building obstacles, timers, and "start" and "finish" goals - Adding fun sounds, colours, and animations to bring games to life
