About This Activity

The Winter Term (Term 2) intermediate Program is designed to introduce actors to specific techniques in order to develop their mind, voice, and body for a confident and honest performance. Improvisation and scripted scene study provide fluency in acting fundamentals like conflict, action, and given circumstances. As collaboration is essential to the creation of theatre, students will develop the social skills required to find creative solutions as members of a team, to confidently give voice to original ideas, and grow respect towards the ideas of their peers. The first half of Term 2 Intermediate Drama Program focuses on improvisation, script-writing, comedy, stage combat, classical theatre training techniques, Shakespeare, vocal training, and musical theatre, followed by the introduction to the Spring show. Casting will begin mid-term. There is no final performance in this Term (Term 2). Rather, the class will host an Open House at the end of Term 2. Student Attendance and Expectations: Students MUST attend all rehearsals which are scheduled for your child. If your child has to miss a rehearsal due to sickness or unforeseen circumstances, please send an email to the Head Office. There is NO SMALL PART in any show. If you accept a part in a CATS Show, your child is committed to attending the final performance date. All participants must maintain good citizenship. Students will be required to maintain good citizenship behaviour as defined in our Students' Code of Conduct in our Parent Orientation Package. Respecting others in your class is important for a great performance. Ages: 7 to 11 years old Duration: 11 weeks of classes Time: 1.5 hours per week Performance: A performance is introduced in Term 2. The final performance is held on the last day of term 3
