In this action-packed 8-week program, young creators will use SCRATCH, the world’s most popular coding platform for beginners, to build and customize their very own platformer game — full of levels, challenges, and cool characters. Each week, students meet for 90 minutes of hands-on, high-energy learning, creating a new piece of their game and discovering the magic behind how games are made. What Students Will Learn: 🧠 Coding Fundamentals: - Sequencing: Understand how actions follow one another to create smooth gameplay - Loops: Use repetition to make characters move and animate efficiently - Conditionals: Power up the game with "if-then" decisions for exciting challenges - Variables: Keep track of player scores, levels, and more - Events: Make sprites respond to player controls and game events - Debugging: Learn how to find and fix problems like a real game developer! 🚀 Game Design Skills: - Designing custom characters (sprites) and animations - Building fun levels with obstacles, platforms, and enemies - Adding music, sound effects, and storytelling elements - Creating win/lose conditions and scoreboards
