About This Activity

Every object around us: tools, toys, devices, furniture - began as a digital design. In 3D Design Studio, teens step into the role of 3D designers and product creators, learning how ideas take shape in three dimensions. Using Blender, students design original objects, refine form and function, and prepare their creations for real-world production through 3D printing. Rather than focusing only on digital visuals, this camp emphasizes design with purpose. Teens learn how professional designers think about scale, structure, and usability as they transform virtual models into physical prototypes. TEENS WILL: - Learn the animation pipeline: idea → storyboard → animation → polish → export  - Build characters and scenes using digital assets  - Animate motion using keyframes, timing, and cinematic pacing  - Add effects, titles, and transitions to elevate production quality  - Explore sound, music, and audio timing to strengthen storytelling  - Practice creative decision-making, iteration, and finishing a project  Students design, model, and refine original 3D objects while following a real-world design workflow used in product design and prototyping. Your teen will:  Develop original design concepts based on form, function, and purpose Build detailed 3D models using Blender’s modelling and editing tools Develop spatial reasoning and design precision  Iterate on designs by testing, refining, and improving models Understand how digital designs translate into physical objects Evaluate designs for real-world constraints such as durability and printability This camp is ideal for teens interested in design, engineering, architecture, game development, or creative technology.
