About This Activity

Dive into the technical challenges of the deep! This week-long intensive transforms students into civil engineers tasked with conquering the underwater environment. Participants will analyze the structural integrity of marine infrastructure, from offshore foundations to sub-sea tunnels, while balancing the delicate needs of oceanic ecosystems. Through hands-on design projects and site simulations, you will investigate ocean chemistry’s impact on material corrosion and use wildlife tracking data to design sustainable, "nature-inclusive" coastal defenses. By the end of the week, you’ll gain a professional perspective on how human-made systems and life beneath the surface can thrive together. Related disciplines: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering
