Club SciKidz’s Junior Entomologist is a comprehensive, STEM.org accredited summer program that introduces early elementary students to the fascinating field of Entomology. Through 20 distinct "make and take" projects, campers explore the diverse world of over 900,000 known insect species. Core Learning Objectives: Scientific Identification & Classification: Campers master the "anatomy of an insect" (head, thorax, abdomen, and six legs), learning to distinguish true insects from other arthropods like spiders. Pollination & Agricultural Science: Through hands-on experiments, students learn the critical role bees play in our food supply. They even participate in a Honey Tasting to see how different plants create unique flavors. Environmental Engineering: Campers become "Insect Architects," designing and building Bee Homes, engineering Hornet Nests, and creating a Bee Garden to support local ecosystems. Field Research & Scavenger Hunts: Using professional magnifying tools, campers participate in daily outdoor "bio-blitzes," documenting local insect adaptations and behaviors in their natural habitats.
