About This Activity

🔎 Forensic Detective: The Science of Solving Crimes Target Grades: 6th – 8th (Ages 11-13) Cost: $525 Is your pre-teen obsessed with true crime, mysteries, or the technical wizardry of a crime lab? This isn't just a "detective" camp—it’s a deep dive into the rigorous science of forensics. Designed specifically for older campers, this program treats participants as professional Crime Scene Investigators, challenging them to use Biology, Chemistry, and Physics to solve complex cases. 🧪 What Your Camper Will Do: Process Real Crime Scenes: Campers won't just hear about investigations; they’ll work through actual crime scene setups using the same tools field professionals use. Master the Lab: Throughout the week, they will perform high-level analysis, including: DNA & Blood Analysis: Learning the chemistry behind identifying biological evidence (simulated). Fingerprint & Fiber Analysis: Using microscopy and dusting techniques to match clues to suspects. Handwriting & White Powder Labs: Applying physics and chemical reactions to verify documents and identify unknown substances. The Big Case: Their skills will be put to the test as they work to solve "The Case of the Garden Skeleton," a detailed mystery requiring a week of data collection and critical thinking. 💡 Why Parents Love It: Critical Thinking: The core mission is two-fold: to clear the innocent and expose the guilty. This teaches kids to set aside bias and rely strictly on evidence. Professional Insight: We work hard to coordinate visits from real Crime Scene Investigators and K-9 handlers, giving campers a glimpse into actual STEM careers. Educational Authority: Every camper receives a professional lab binder to track their evidence, findings, and the scientific principles ("The Science Involved") they learn each day. 📅 Logistics Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Extended Care: Available starting at 8:00 AM and ending at 5:30 PM
