About This Activity

Club SciKidz’s Jr. Veterinary Medicine is a STEM.org accredited introductory medical program that explores the biological systems and healthcare needs of domestic animals. This week-long "Vet School" focuses on the two most common patients: cats and dogs.   Core Learning Objectives: Comparative Anatomy Models: Campers build 3D models of the circulatory, respiratory, and skeletal systems to visualize how animals breathe, move, and pump blood.   Clinical Skills Lab: Using real stethoscopes and veterinary tools, students learn the basics of animal diagnostics—from checking heart rates to understanding how a vet "listens" to a patient who can't speak. Advanced Care Simulation: Even our youngest campers get a taste of emergency care, learning the logic behind treating broken bones and the basics of suturing (stitches) using safe, age-appropriate models. The "Guest Patient" Experience: Whenever possible, we invite a local veterinarian or a therapy dog to visit, allowing campers to practice their newly learned physical exam techniques on a real, friendly "patient." Quick Facts for Busy Families Future Veterinarian Kit: Every camper receives their own medical kit—including a first aid supply kit—to bring home on Friday so they can continue their practice. Hands-On Dissection: This camp includes a chicken wing dissection, allowing students to see how muscles and tendons work together in a safe, guided environment.   STEM.org Accredited: Our curriculum is built on professional science standards, ensuring your child learns the correct terminology and biological concepts. Working-Parent Friendly: Standard hours are typically 9:00 AM – 3:30/4:00 PM, with Pre-Camp (8:00 AM) and Post-Camp (until 5:30 PM) options available at most locations.   Launch a Career in Animal Science Because this camp is one of our most requested additions to the Club SciKidz lineup, it tends to reach capacity very early in the season. Give your child the tools to go from pet owner to pet pr
