Club SciKidz’s Pokémon Professors is a STEM.org accredited program that bridges the gap between popular fiction and the natural sciences. Through a series of hands-on "Professor Challenges," campers apply scientific theories to explain the fantastic abilities of their favorite characters. Core Learning Objectives: Chemical Reaction "Hatching": Campers explore endothermic and exothermic reactions as they use chemistry to "hatch" Pokémon from customized eggs, observing how matter changes state under different conditions. Physics & Engineering (The Poké-Launch): Students build and calibrate their own catapults. This module teaches the physics of trajectory, force, and precision as they engineer the perfect launch to "catch" their targets. Electrical Circuits (Pikachu’s Power): Campers dive into the world of electricity, building circuits to explore how energy flows and investigating the real-world science behind "Electric-type" moves. Biological Observation & Taxonomy: By comparing "Bug-type" Pokémon to real-world insects and organisms, campers learn about natural selection, adaptation, and classification, discovering the real creatures that inspired the game. States of Matter with "Ditto Slime": Campers experiment with Non-Newtonian fluids and polymers to create Ditto-inspired slime, learning the characteristics of solids, liquids, and gases. Quick Facts for Busy Families DIY Trading Cards: While we ask that prized personal collections stay safely at home, campers will get to design and create their own scientific Pokémon cards based on real biological traits. STEM.org Accredited: Our curriculum is recognized for its high-quality integration of "pop-STEM" with national science standards. Take-Home Science: Campers leave with several projects, including their custom catapults, slime, and scientific observation journals. Flexible Support: Programs run Monday–Friday (typically 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM), with Pre-Camp (8:00 AM) and Post-Camp (until 5:30 PM) available
