About This Activity
Description
Is your elementary aged child interested in playing an instrument, but not sure which one? Participants in this class will have the opportunity to explore and play various woodwind, brass, percussion and stringed instruments to learn about how they work and what part they fulfill in musical groups. They will discover how musical instruments are used to express emotions, enable creative expression and make connections between visual and dramatic art forms. Introduction to the instruments will utilize the folk tale “Peter and the Wolf”. Hands on movement and music activities and dramatic re-creation of the folk tale will keep students moving and active throughout the course sessions. Instructors and assistants for this course are members of the Tracy Community Band.
