About This Activity
Overview: Carpentry is often thought of as the rough skills required to frame a structure. But many carpenters get the chance to refine their skills and do work of tremendous detail when they trim houses. Trim is all the woodwork that covers the intersections of rough framing and wall coverings. Window jambs, casings, baseboard and moldings are installed by trim carpenters. In this class, students will develop finer measuring, cutting and joinery techniques, and will be exposed to more precision tools while working on the interior trim of the tiny house framed by our June Rough Framing course. Project description: Students will work as a team to install interior trim on the tiny house. By the end of the week the goal is to have the window and door casing installed on the tiny house. Students will build an interior door jamb and casing as well. This class is part of our Tiny House series. Students under 18 may attend with parental permission.
