Instructor: Rachel McKinney In this creative and hands-on afterschool class, students will explore the colorful world of junk journaling—a unique art form that blends writing, crafting, and personal expression. Each week, students will be introduced to new materials and techniques, such as collage, mixed media, stamping, layering, and repurposing everyday items into meaningful artwork. Students will build their own journals from scratch and learn how to use different mediums to capture their thoughts, stories, and imagination. The class encourages creativity, problem-solving, and artistic confidence, while giving students a fun space to experiment, make choices, and express themselves freely. By the end of the session, each student will have a beautifully unique journal filled with their own creations—an inspiring keepsake they can continue to add to long after the class ends.
