Coaches: Christian Schneider and Sarah Burkett Big Ideas. Bold Voices. Future Leaders! What if your child could learn to think critically, speak confidently, and express their ideas in ways that inspire others? At Laurence, our Debate Program has become an increasingly valuable part of the Upper Division experience, helping our 5th and 6th graders develop essential skills in communication, critical thinking, and public speaking. These skills have proven especially meaningful as our students prepare to transition from Laurence to their next schools and beyond. Now, we're excited to bring that same opportunity to our younger students! Our talented Laurence Debate Coaches are thrilled to introduce a special two-day Debate Camp designed exclusively for 3rd and 4th graders! Through engaging activities, interactive challenges, and friendly debates, campers will learn how to organize their thoughts, express their opinions with confidence, listen to different perspectives, and respectfully defend their ideas. Most importantly, students will discover that debate isn't simply about winning an argument. It's about finding your voice, building confidence, thinking creatively, and learning how to communicate with purpose. Whether your child is naturally outspoken or still finding the courage to speak up, this camp will provide a fun, supportive introduction to the world of debate while giving them a head start on the exciting opportunities awaiting them in 5th and 6th grade. No prior debate experience is necessary. All that's needed is curiosity, an open mind, and a willingness to learn!
