About This Activity
Intermediate Photography teaches students how to take full control of their cameras. From the first class, they will take their cameras off of auto mode and explore in depth how to control the elements of the exposure triangle to make their creative visions come to life. Required: A DSLR camera capable of manual mode or a mobile camera able to shoot in RAW. Please reach out before signing up for the class if you are not sure your camera will work. An emphasis will be placed on hands on learning and exploring (we’ll make a camera out of an empty Pringles can on week 1!) and students will be expected to practice assignments during the week and turn in one to three photos per week for class critique. Any camera available to the student, including cell phone cameras, will work. If possible, we will take a field trip to a local museum before the end of the semester. This class will be sufficient for ½ credit in Fine Arts. You can contact Mrs. Nancy with any questions via e-mail at nancybethbailey@yahoo.com. Nancy is a priest’s wife and mom of seven ages 26 to 9. She has been homeschooling for 23 years. The first four have graduated and gone on to college and careers and she will have two high schoolers and a 5th grader in the fall. She took her first photography class through her local 4H club at the age of 10. She was on her high school yearbook team and worked as lifestyle editor and photographer for a newspaper in Waxahachie, Texas, after college and until her oldest was 10 months old. She has taught photography and other classes at local co-ops and worked as a tutor and director for Classical Conversations for three and a half years. The Intro to Photography class is one of her favorites and she is excited to help more students learn to express themselves through the art of photography.
