About This Activity
The Art of Argument is an engaging debate and communication beginners course designed for middle and high school students to build confidence, clarity, and critical thinking skills. Students learn how to construct strong arguments, evaluate evidence, ask effective questions, and deliver persuasive rebuttals through interactive debates, role-playing, media analysis, and real-world scenarios. Emphasis is placed on respectful discussion, teamwork, and thoughtful engagement with differing viewpoints. My name is Ashley “Ash” Knutson. I’m a homeschool parent to an energetic 14 year old and have been married for 18 years, following my husband’s military career across the U.S. and overseas. I bring years of teaching experience in public schools, co-ops, and enrichment programs, holding a teacher-aide paraprofessional and NCMA degree with a medical background supporting diverse learners. I’ve taught subjects ranging from debate and history to arts, geography, and team building. My classes focus on critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and fostering a genuine love of learning.
