About This Activity
The Art of Argument is an engaging debate and communication course to help students build confidence, clarity, and critical thinking skills. Students learn debate formats, strategic thinking, cross-examination, and effective rebuttals while fostering respectful disagreement, critical analysis, teamwork and thoughtful engagement with differing viewpoints. This course is ideal for students seeking to strengthen public speaking, leadership, and analytical skills in a collaborative team setting. Teacher Bio: My name is Ashley “Ash” Knutson. I’m a homeschool parent to an energetic 13-year-old and have been married for 17 years, following my husband’s military career across the U.S. and overseas. I bring 20+ years of teaching experience in public schools, co-ops, and enrichment programs, holding a teacher-aide paraprofessional and NCMA degree with a medical background supporting diverse learners. I’ve taught subjects ranging from debate and history to arts, geography, and team building. My classes focus on critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and fostering a genuine love of learning.
