Advanced Grammar and Writing is designed for students who are ready to deepen their understanding of grammar and refine their writing skills at a higher level. This course builds upon foundational grammar knowledge and focuses on mastering more complex sentence structures, advanced punctuation, and precise language usage. Students will learn how to use grammar intentionally to improve clarity, style, and effectiveness in their writing. Students will engage in writing multi-paragraph essays across various genres, with a strong emphasis on organization, voice, and revision. Instruction focuses on developing strong thesis statements, crafting effective introductions and conclusions, strengthening body paragraphs, and incorporating descriptive and purposeful language. This course also emphasizes the writing process, including planning, drafting, revising, and editing. Students will learn to evaluate their own writing and make meaningful improvements. By the end of the course, students will demonstrate increased independence, stronger writing fluency, and readiness for higher-level academic writing. Teacher Bio: Nicole Golden is a certified secondary English educator with a passion for helping students grow as confident readers and writers. She loves creating engaging, thoughtful classroom experiences that strengthen both skills and character. Nicole is married to Bryant, the Lead Pastor of Centerpoint Church, and together they are raising four wonderful kids. When she’s not teaching, she enjoys investing in her family and church community.
