About This Activity
English II is geared towards the 10th grade student. Composition of essays will be fine-tuned to find students’ personal voices in their writing. MLA format will be expected for each essay while grammar and vocabulary will be expanded. Learning objectives Grammar - heavy focus on proofreading/editing along with classic grammar lessons Writing from a prompt - current events 4 Essays in varying length from 1-5 pages-narrative, expository, persuasive, autobiography, and research MLA Format - student must have access to either Google Docs or Microsoft Word Research - student will learn how to properly cite all factual sources Literary analysis of short stories, poetry, drama, and novels 4 Novels - the sooner these are purchased, the better! Hinton Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie 1984 by George Orwell Poetry 1 Drama - TBD Shakespeare play Teacher Bio: My name is Amy Loesch and I have been teaching several high school level courses since 2019. I graduated in 2009 with a BA in Religious Education and have taken a significant amount of graduate level courses for teaching and secondary English.
