1. Students will be introduced to the international framework whereby states and international organizations interact and seek to influence outcomes. 2. Through an understanding of the major theories of International Relations, students will examine three significant issues facing governments and other actors in the international order. By being able to identify and examine the interests, abilities, and constraints on these international actors, students will be able to explain the motivations and possible outcomes of policies on the relationships between international actors. 3. Finally, students will be able to view issues in international relations through a biblical worldview. Patrick S. Anderson was raised in a military home and currently lives in Tampa, Florida. He began a career in the US Army in 1982 and retired from military service in 2016. During his military career Patrick served in various infantry, armor, and ranger units. In the latter half of his military career he served in multiple African countries as a Defense Attaché. Since retirement from active military service, Patrick has continued his work as a practitioner of international relations in government and industry managing and directing international programs. Academically, Patrick received his bachelor of science degree from Liberty University in 1989. He later earned a master of arts degree in International Studies from the University of South Carolina in 2000. His master’s thesis was titled Sudan: A Case Study in Framework Analysis. In 2011 Patrick was awarded a War College Fellowship at the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies where he focused his research on the “Arab Spring” and its impact on Africa. He also earned an Associates degree in French from the College of Monterey while attending the Defense Language Institute. He is a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and is ordained as a ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church of America.
