About This Activity
Did you know that at UBC alone there are 14 different types of Engineering you can study? From building bridges, to inventing cutting edge medical technology, to designing the websites you use every day- the impact of engineers is all around us! We’ve skillfully engineered a week-long adventure where we’ll dive into the different types of engineering and explore the possibilities of design and ingenuity. Join this camp if you’re not sure where to start, or if you’re interested in a broader scoping introductory experience in Engineering! This program is intended for participants entering Grade 6 and 7 in September 2024. NOTE: The same themes at the same grade level will contain the same content across all weeks. For example, Maker 2/3 (Week 1) will contain the same material as Maker 2/3 (Week 7). Girls* and women* bring value and diversity to STEM, and through providing a girl*-focused space, we encourage and inspire the next generation of women* in STEM. Geering Up holds All Girls* Camps every summer to encourage girls* to discover and explore their love of science and engineering. All Girls* Camps offer the same activities as their co-ed counterparts in a girl*-focused space. *We use the words “girls” and “women” with an asterisk (*) to intentionally include students and stakeholders who are underrepresented in STEM fields.
