About This Activity

Makeup Design Fall Winter Spring Want to learn how to transform a face into something completely new? Students will learn basic skills to successfully apply stage makeup for a variety of spaces. They will learn to create makeup designs for a variety of characters including different eras in history, glamor, horror, fantasy, and many more. They will use their creativity to make their own designs and then learn how to apply these techniques on their own face. They will also get a chance to work with wigs and facial hair. This class will have a makeup kit that needs to be purchased and various smaller needs depending on the students' projects throughout the year. Makeup kits can be purchased at Center Stage Clothiers, Hollywood Lights, or online. More information about the kits will be available after the student is enrolled. Fall session: Grim Grinning Ghosts & Winter Visitations It’s that spooky time of year! Whether you’re gearing up for Halloween by getting all bloody & horrifying; or awaiting ghostly Holiday visitations, this is the make up design class for you. We will be delving into spooky stage FX make up in this session. Skills being taught during this session are: horror and gore makeup application, prosthetic application, prosthetic creation, and so much more! Winter session: The Basics During the Winter session students will be learning the basics of stage makeup; as well as beauty makeup. This session is recommended for anyone in the shows at MPA. Not only will you learn the basics of makeup, but we’re going to delve into creating hair applications. We might even brush on hair and wigs. Spring session: Mythical Beasts, and Cryptids. Have you ever wanted to look like a mythical beast? Have you ever wanted to create monsters? This session is all about that. We will be delving into prosthetic making, design concept & research. We will also look into costume and full look fabrication. Each student will be creating an entire 'creature'!
